The coming of social media has diminished the writing skills of the 21st century. Nowadays, letter writing is common only amongst business whereby, social media is the common means used to communicate daily. This has a negative effect on communication and writing skills because social media is spontaneous. With the spontaneity of social media communication, people hardly think before the write and they hardly revise what they have written talkles of organizing it. As a result, often times people write trash and send before they could even discover it. Thus, writing in the 21st century is becoming more passive because people don’t take their time. People in the 21st century are less going to even think about a letter and this is why they find it difficult in situations where they are expected to write as professionals or for important business applications or organizations, and this is something that cannot be ignored.
